Free
From Fear
Sir:
As an Iraqi, I am appalled at the opposition against
the principle of removing Saddam Hussein. Such people
obviously have no regard for the oppression the Iraqi
people have had to endure for more than two decades
because of this man.
There
are reports he is arming the reserves and the public,
as he did back in 1991. Yet, just like then, this will
undoubtedly backfire. All the US needs to do to avoid
large civilian casualties is to symbolically weaken
Saddam by bombing military and presidential targets.
This will remove the fear from the Iraqi people and
give them the confidence to turn against Saddam's few
loyal troops.
