Spare Iraq's People

SIR - The most deaths Ariel Sharon can ever be blamed for are those of 20,000 Palestinians. However, in the same period of time, Saddam Hussein has managed to kill at least a million Iraqis. Opposition to toppling Saddam's regime cannot demand justice for the Palestinian cause if it chooses to ignore this fact, and Saddam continues to fool the Arab and Muslim world.

As an Iraqi with family who have suffered from Saddam's regime and from UN sanctions, there is nothing I want more than to see him and his regime overthrown.

However, the way to Saddam should not be over Iraqi bodies.
